What if what we did on Facebook was real? How weird would it be? Can you imagine walking up to someone and putting "like" on everything? What if we wrote messages on our coworkers or roommates walls? How about that how asking to be someone's friend thing? How odd would that be?
Take a look at this parody to get an idea of what it would be like.
I personally find this video hilarious, being the Facebook addict that I am. It really makes me realize the terminology and concepts that Facebook uses are not something we would use in real life. It would be really awkward if we acted like the above video.

I don't know if you watch "The League", but they did something similar to this on a recent show. One of the characters kept a large board (his "wall") with him and had pictures of all of his friends. Strings showed connections and he made status updates on post-it notes.
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff, but it made me think about how ridiculous social networking must seem to people that aren't familiar with the idea. I know I thought it was silly at first (I told everyone that I preferred to talk to my friends in person) but eventually came around as it has obvious uses.
That clip was awesome! I'm on facebook a lot as well (who isn't?!) and I agree with you! It was be so awkward and weird if everything we did in facebook took place in real life. First of all, it would be way too time consuming. Can you imagine trying to stalk someone down just to ask via real time facebook to be your friend. That would be hilarious and very creepy! The clip was very entertaining though. It makes you think.
