Tumblr

Tumblr was first introduced in 2007 as a microblogging and social media site. In tumbler everyone has their own personal site which is called your Tumblelog.  You are able to share text, images, links, videos, music, quotes on your page. There is also an option where you can re-blog someone else's post if you find it interesting or like a post rather then being able to post comments. With tumblr you are able to link it up to other sites such as facebook, you can also post something from tumblr on other social networking sites.  Tumblr is different from you normal blog sites because it is for quick short things. It is a tool to make blogging easier for people. Tumblr like almost everything these days is also accessible through a smart phone. You are also allowed to customer everything that has to do with your tumblr account and page. Also it is kind of like twitter in a sense you follow other people's account and they also can follow yours.  To date there has been a total of 12,910,287,019 posts and 34,654,569 blogs on tumblr. Also just today there was 42,559,168 posts.

  1. Looking over comparisons of Tumblr to other choices,Twitter for the most part, it would seem that Tumblr would be the clear winner. Tumblr seems to be a combination of the other current social media networks in that it is interactive like Facebook, facilitates micro-blogging similar to twitter but seems to be the better choice for comprehensive blogging, and shows photos in high resolutions similar to Flick'r. So in the long run it does not seem unreasonable to see the majority flock to Tumblr over the other options, as it brings in the aspects of all of its competitors.

  2. I like tumblr it has a clean and fresh look, twitter if you go to people pages may acutally look a bit like myspace. sometimes undeniably ridiculous such as an athlete tiling him or herself all across their page. it may not be a FB or a social network type but its purpose is to microblog and people should get around to using it as such a tool instead of trying to take out flaws or compare it to other types of sites. Its in my opinion much more high quality and the level of customization is there but not completely free to ruin the look of it.

  3. I love Tumblr! There are a lot of things you can do that not other social networking sites allow. For example, being able to create your own webpage basically. You are able to make it look very professional or however you would like to make it. It brings out the creative side of people!! It is also very useful if you are interested in photography. It is basically like having a portfolio online. I think everyone should embrace their creative side more!

  4. I remember when a I was first introduced to this site by a friend's daughter. She was 13 at the time and was obsessed with this new form of social media. She would show me every time I saw her the cool things she found on Tumblr and I just really faked any interest. Looking at this site now though, I do actually find it interesting. I wasn't very big into social media sites growing up but over the past few years I've gotten more involved because of the importance of them. This site reminds me a lot of pinterest.

  5. It's very exciting to see new products and services invented and Twitter is really a great networking site to quickly post some advertising or sudden changes to any events. On the other hand, I personally don't use it. Unless I start working with a company or some sort of job that will make me join the Twit team, I won't ever use it. Social Media is destroying our personal lives with addiction.

  6. This site is incredible you can literally share your life in pictures, different than any other social networking site. A newer site developed pintrest, shares the same idea of social networking as tumblr. This site has its advantages because it can be as personal or impersonal as you make it.

  7. Tumblr kind of seems like a more entertaining form of twitter, you are able to express your opinions and thoughts but to do so in a more media rich way. It kind of reminds me of www.funnyjunk.com haha!
